Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
God speed sweet Lydia... say hello to my Abigail when you see her... as well as all the others that were waiting for you to come home.

Toolie,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that Lydia has crossed over the bridge, she is now off playing with all the others that have passed. She will alway have a spot in your heart, and you know she was taken good care of for as long as you had her. It won't be easy, I know, but know we are the angels on earth for these little angels.

So sorry, Toolie. You gave Lydia two wonderful years. Thank you for being her angel!
ReplyDeleteawwwwwwww... the Rainbow Bridge...take care in knowing that she is free from all the pain and suffering...she is off with all her other playmates, where the sun is always shining...take comfort in knowing that you and her brothers and sisters gave her so much happiness...Remember all the fun times that you shared....I have not have had to say "goodbye" yet and cannot even imagine what that sense of loss feels like...but it will come one day for me as well, and I hope, Toolie, I can be as strong as you are...we love you and may GOD bless you sweet Lydia!!! Christine M.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane for the great tribute to our girl. She was a special one for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to 'steal' a wonderful quote from a dear friend Sara. I read it and love it. I feel it's appropriate.
"So how do you say goodbye? I still don't know the answer. Maybe there isn't one. Maybe, instead, you wait for the day when you can say hello again."
That's a wonderful saying... because it really isn't "goodbye" is it.. it's really.. "I'll be seeing you" And that is the thought we have to keep foremost in our minds.. to help the hurting heart.
